2014 s’est structuré autour de Dragon Age: Inquisition, mais l’année fut fragmentée plutôt qu’unanime. Dragon Age a pris une large avance agrégée et a ajouté The Game Awards, D.I.C.E., NAVGTR et SXSW, tandis que Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor a formé la poursuite la plus solide avec la GDC et un large soutien éditorial. Les exceptions des grands prix comptent aussi: la BAFTA a choisi Destiny, le Golden Joystick Dark Souls II et les New York Game Awards Wolfenstein: The New Order.
